Please note that this is an apprenticeship position and therefore anyone with more than six months professional experience working as a Business analyst or who holds a degree or Master’s degree in a subject such as Business Studies or an MBA will not be eligible.
You will also need to commit to completing a Level 4 Business Analyst Apprenticeship.

About the role
The Business Analyst Apprentice will provide essential support to the Business Analyst team, assisting with the management and execution of software development sprints. This role will involve organizing sprints, documenting feedback, scheduling follow-up meetings, recording change decisions, preparing release notes and participating in software testing. The role will also be responsible for organising and preparing software demonstrations to the internal team.
Key responsibilities
Sprint Support
- Assist in the planning and organization of software development sprints.
- Ensure that sprint goals and objectives are clearly defined and communicated.
- Track sprint progress and identify potential bottlenecks or issues.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Documentation and Feedback
- Document sprint outcomes, feedback, and decisions in a clear and concise manner.
- Maintain a log of change decisions and their impact on the project.
- Prepare and distribute project documentation as required (including release notes).
Meeting Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate follow-up meetings with stakeholders.
- Prepare meeting agendas and distribute materials.
- Take minutes during meetings and ensure that action items are followed up on.
- Prepare and facilitate internal software demonstration sessions.
Software Testing
- Participate in software testing activities, including executing test cases and reporting defects.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of test documentation.
General Support
- Provide administrative support to the Business Analyst team as needed.
Experience / About you
- A proven interest in technology / software development and committed to developing the skills of a business analyst
- Basic understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile).
- Familiarity with software testing concepts.
- Works well with others and contributes positively to team efforts.
- Takes initiative and is always looking for ways to improve processes.
- Can quickly adjust to changing priorities and work environments.
- Consistently meets deadlines and commitments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Essential Qualifications
- 7 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 9-4 or A-C including maths and English
- 3 A Levels (or equivalent) at grades A*-C in any subject but preferably one in a numerical, computing or business subject (e.g. Maths, Science, Computer Science, Business Studies)

Salary: £20,000 - £24,000 depending on prior skills and knowledge
Working hours - Monday - Friday, 40 hrs per week
Location: Please note this is a hybrid role with the option to work from home at the discretion of the line manager. (You will need to evidence that you can sustainably commute to B9 4DT as required) There will also be the requirement to travel to other Dole locations across the country when required.
Training to be provided
As part of the Level 4 Business Analyst apprenticeship standard, you’ll be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to an industry recognised qualification and your dedicated industry coach will support you through a blended approach that will include remote, in person, 1-2-1 and group learning.
