Overview of the role
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Transformation, the Apprentice Finance Systems Developer will assist in the day-to-day operational support of the firm’s Finance systems and users. The position is within a small team working mainly on the Service Desk and will encompass customer support (both in person, online and over the telephone), application support, system testing, change control and documentation.
The Role
The successful applicant should have:
- Experience in troubleshooting IT Systems and have the ability to quickly learn and be able to adapt to new applications.
- Be able to accept tasks and advice from other more members of the department.
- Be willing to work out of hours when required and at short notice to support the business.
- Capable of working to tight deadlines, sometimes under pressure.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service and professional approach. You should also be able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and members of the IT team.
The successful candidate will ideally have some basic experience in the following, but training will be provided:
- Information Technology fundamentals.
- Knowledge of Windows 11, Office 365.
- Troubleshooting issues with smartphones and hardware.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)
- Desirable: you have studied a tech related subject at Level 3 such as BTEC IT, A Level computer science etc
This role is also open to graduates looking to cross train into IT.
Salary: £23,000
Total hours per week: 35.00
Location: Manchester - the successful candidate should expect to be in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
The Conditions of Service
The working hours for this position are a standard day of 7 hours, five days a week, with Wednesday for study leave for the apprenticeship. The core hours are 09:00am to 17:00pm each weekday with an hour for lunch. There will occasionally be a requirement to work additional or unusual hours (arriving earlier, leaving later or working at weekends) in order to resolve problems, implement new features and maintain service levels. Overtime will occasionally be required by prior arrangement.
Apprenticeship Training to be provided:
- You will undertake the Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard and be given the opportunity to gain relevant British Computer Society qualifications.
- You will work alongside our experienced Service Desk team and build your skills through a combination of:
- 1-2-1 Coaching
- Group activities
- Online learning
- Work based tasks
